A feast fit for Biggie – R.I.P B.I.G

My goodness, 18 years since one of the most inspirational rappers was gunned down in what most deem as senseless violence, ALREADY???

Damn…RIP Biggie…

A feast fit for Biggie - R.I.P B.I.G

Heck, I could spout on about all the tracks I love and blah blah but today, I have to salute the All’onda restaurant in Union Square, New York.

In honour of the late, great B.I.G, today, All’onda restaurant will be serving up a 6 course meal today (9th March) as homage to the 18th anniversary of Biggie’s death.

Each course is affectionately inspired by not only his love of food, but also his food inspired lyrics…

Come on…we all know one – *hums so we can steam on the way to the telly, go fill my belly, a T bone steak, cheese eggs and Welch’s grape…*

First up, it’s a spiced tomato soup inspired by the lyrics; V8 juice drinkin, Slimfast blendin from the Fuck Me interlude on the Ready to Die album.

Following the starters, diners will enjoy some cracked pepper jerk crab and lobster toast (note the jerk…yum) inspired by the lyric; country house, tennis courts, and horseback ridin’, decidin’: cracked crab or lobster? taken from the track; I Love the Dough on the album; Life after Death.

Inspired by the lyrics on the track; Hypnotise; Escargot my car go 160 swiftly, wreck it buy a new one, your crew run run your crew run run – up next is butter poached escargot followed by curried oxtail patties, pickled scotch bonnet and ginger relish inspired by Biggie’s love of the popular Jamaican snack.

Finally, to top off an already sumptuous feast, it’s a round of; G.O.A.T. milk cheesecake, strawberry jam, cola caramel inspired by BIG’s love of Junior’s cheesecake!

At $85 a pop, one could enjoy all of this and celebrate the life of an amazing artist between 5.30 and 10.30pm.

I have to admit, the timings are a little bit crappy, it makes things very limited and whilst I understand today is the day that marks his death, why not extend this so more people can enjoy?

OK, I get it, the sentiment is there but do us all a favour and bring this concept over to the UK – I for one, would love some of that cracked pepper jerk crab and lobster toast…my mouth is watering just thinking about it – yum!

R.I.P B.I.G!
